So here we are finally at Part II of my Trend Report 2011
Print On Print
The easiest way to do this would be to just wear one dress which has the whole print on print theme going on but where is the creativity in that?
The best part of this trend is you get to mix and match a lot of things.
But you should remember to combine patterns that compliment each other. Like Stripes + Florals, Stripes+Animal Print. Stripes can generally help and play the role of the basic print to which you can add another print.
If you think the outfit will become very chaotic then space the prints out. Its not necessary to have ONE print on ANOTHER. Like in the first outfit the solid black shorts give a break between the polka dotted stocking and the floral sweater.
Another thing to try is to use different size of prints.
That 70s Show
You can Raid your Mothers Closet for this one!Ring, Hoops and Bangles from FOREVER 21
Similar wedge platforms available there RIGHT NOW!
I love the wide leg pants. Don`t particularly like flared ones tho. Prefer straight wide legged ones.
Derek Lam
As I mentioned before, I would love to see some one like Malaika Arora in wear this trend. She would make it look so effortless and simple
Minimalism
A complete COLOUR LOVER, I find myself reaching for more of neutral shades these days. I don`t really know why. Something about the winters, makes you want to wear neutrals even though you make an effort towards colours.
Anyway. I didn`t think I`d like this trend very much but clearly it has grown on me. It can me you look so elegant and chic without much effort.
There were so many good examples of minimalism on the red carpet at the Golden Globes.
The key to this trend is Accessorize Wisely
Colour Blocking
The reddish pinkish skirt I have used is really similar to a red skirt I bought at forever21 last week (will do a haul next! )
They have so many colours in a solid stretch jersey skirt. A must have basic!
Bangles from F21
Yes. I am looking forward to wearing this trend. HOW did you know?
Another really fun trend where you can really play around and mix and match lots of things. Yes it is a little bold but don`t worry, you`ll really enjoy wearing this. Just keep the accessories neutral so its not TOO jhataak.
ITS A LONG STORY
So the story about long skirts and me is that when I was in 8th and 9th grade ethnic long skirts (specially from fabindia, Anoki and Janpath) were all the rage. At every get to gether or party me and my friends could be seen wearing these. And we all made it a point to buy lots and lots of them.
As we grew up we found out love for dresses skirts and the long skirts are still stored away in the top most section of my wardrobe, untouched for years.
Even if I try out this trend, I am sure I would be steering clear of the ethnic long skirts. I think I have been there and very much DONE that.
So I have tried very hard to put a 'maxi skirt' look together, without it looking too matronly.
I choose a somewhat structured skirt with layers as opposed to flowly ones for that reason.
Some skirts from ZARA.
Also they have an amazing sale on:)
